Creativity

Anette doesn’t consider herself creative. Yet she knows she is as an artist.

She doesn’t believe that everyone has to be, can or wants to be an artist. You are or your are not creative.

Creativtity comes in different ways:

To be creative one needs to acquire the skills first and then one can create something new, explore the mater and try out many things.

1) Innovation, you need creativity to make up something new

2) Handcraft

3) Art. It’s not always something new. The chance to go deep, being honest, playful and good art many times takes time. Not necessarily for the one piece but the path and trials to reach the goal.

Process of creating Art; Getting into the flow:

1) Enough sleep & rest

2) Undisturbed, undivided time for yourself & no pressure

3) Deadlines helps to focus to get things done. Can be self chosen.

Laying in bed, relaxing and letting the ideas come. Her ideas, intuition comes from her belly, solar plexus region. In Yoga and Ayurveda the centre of creativity. Yet Anette doesn’t know that, but she can strongly feel it flowing from there. Her creative energy then comes out through her hands and she knows what to do. Also thanks to her education and the skills she acquired. One time a clairvoyant woman told her that she sees a lot of colours and creative energy emerging from all of her fingers all the time and informed Anette to learn to channel that energy otherwise it becomes negative.

When Anette is in the flow she knows what to do, this can be for her art, teachings or feminine Fitness classes. She rarely prepares for her classes as she already has a certain level of knowledge and can just tap into it with her intuition what to do.

When she was younger and didn’t have so many task that required her attention Anette had ideas all the time. They just popped up in her head. Now it’s harder with working as a teacher and being a single mom. Anette has a few note books filled with ideas from the ideas coming to her.

Going for a pilgrim like on the Camino in Spain for 20 days could be a great source of ideas. Perhaps too many ideas would come up and the note book would be filled up with many of those.

Creative Projects:

One of her projects has been circles.

She created about 100 paintings with circles. 43 of those were then shown at an exhibition and 8 were sold.

The circles have always been there and feeling she gets from the movement of using her arm painting circles is calming her.

When she started researching she found out about the “Enso circles” described by the Buddhists. A holy circle, describing fulfilment and the symbol for the moon.

“In Zen, ensō is a circle that is hand-drawn in one or two uninhibited brushstrokes to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create. Wikipedia

Anette was doing a History of Arts Master Theses “Art of Emptiness” where she researched the work of the female artis Else Alfelt a COBRA Artist (avant-garde movement; Copenhagen-Brussels-Amsterdam). She received a grand and was able to travel to Japan and follow the steps fo Else Alfelt. In Japan she felt at peace in the Japanese gardens and the feeling the emptiness. She also learned more about the Japanese art and the Enso circle.

Killers of Creativity:

- No clear expectations, borders when working in a team or paid job

- No time and being hurried, pushed too hard

- Fatigue, stress and anxiety

- Being out of practice and being in doubt that you can get your intuition or creative skills back

Depression:

Anette felt depressed when she was not creative for a longer period and was in fear that the intuition, creativity, skills wouldn’t come back to her. Over time she learned that it always comes back to her when needed. She is happiest when she is creative.

Getting out of the comfort zone:

Last time that she needed to get out of her comfort zone was now during the Corona Lock down. The school she is working in gave her the task of finding sponsors for the school.

Advice:

Know to whom you share your ideas. Not everyone is supportive of your ideas or can help you to make them happen.

If you share with the wrong person they might destroy the energy or your drive to follow and go through with the idea. They might push you down out of jealousy or fear.

The right person on the other hand can help you to make it happen and give you extra energy.

Call for action:

Take some time for you. If you don’t have time then analyse your day, week and carve out that time for you.

Then go for a car drive or similar all by yourself without a destination and be in your space.
