Shub Faujdar helps people to land amazing jobs fast. She is a job-search strategist, career coach and LinkedIn branding specialist and trainer.

3 Things that describe her:

  1. Learning
  2. Contributing and
  3. Carrying

Extra point.  Make the hard stuff fun. Lift people up to forget the negative.

We got to talk about:

  • The meaning of her Hindi name: Shubhangi;
    • Shub: Lucky, fortunate, prosperity or beautiful
    • Hangi: Bringing along
  • => Bringer of prosperity and luck
  • The regional traditions on name giving
  • Her parents: Dad the fun one that had to work far away; and
  • Mom the disciplinarian & responsible, working and taking care of the kids. In a time where women stayed home taking care of family
  • Shub helping taking care of the smaller sister and being the responsible child
  • Best childhood memories of sleeping in the yard under the stars when there was no electricity
  • No Tv as child and other distraction, so her down-time became reading
  • Reading habits, speed reading (how) and reading all kind of genres except horror
  • Moving to Singapore for study
  • Nerd life reading books on Saturday evenings
  • Her younger self being self-focused
  • Being a mother, raising a kid with more languages
  • Her line of work is to contribute to others, to a wider community

Her company and how to help others finding jobs:

  • Helping clients to get the right mindset to find the next job
    • From a place of “helplessness” and “has to be done”, to
    • a feeling of “power” as companies need good employees
  • A job is not only to pay the bills
  • She sees 3 Types of clients
    • They searched by themselves for 6 months - 2 years. Then come to her for help
    • Coming back from a career break or look for a big change. Industry, position etc
    • High performers that want to grow, want to move forward without doing unnecessary mistakes. So they ask an expert
  • One of her favourite questions
    • “If you didn’t need the money. What part of your job would you do for free?”
  • A common mistake is to focus too much on the current position, industry and search from that place
    • “You are not a tree. You have legs to move!”
  • When starting in a new field you first need to find out if you like the job, industry etc:
    • Do a side project first,
    • Participate in a Volunteer job
  • The wish to change has to come from the person itself

Creativity:

  • Creativity is essential for our well being
  • Creating with joy using all your senses
  • She is bad in drawing, painting or singing but loves it anyway as the activities give her energy
  • We make it too complicated to create art. Instagram and co. make us believe all has to look perfect

Her Creative Powers:

Communication, writing, language and talking

Creative Obstacles:

We are born being creative but our own or the societies judgement hinder us.

Our school system is based on obeying and knowing how to do things. That leaves not much room for experimenting.

Advice:

“Selfcare is the most unselfish thing to do!”

If you don’t take care of yourself then you are coming from a selfish place.
